Rommert, Andrew, Jackson County, Iowa.³ When Edward Carl Gesang registered as an enemy alien on 9 February 1918 at Chief of Police's Office, Coffeeville, Kansas, Marie Gesang was identified as Edward Carl Gesang's mother.⁴ Marie Gesang resided at Haus Nr. 42, Förtha, Wartburgkreis, Thuringia, Germany, in 1927.⁵

     Edward was born on 4 January 1887 at Fortha, Wartburgkreis, Thuringia, Germany.¹ Some public sources erroneously state Edward Carl Gesang was born at Andrew, Jackson County, Iowa; Several documents claim this birthplace.^1,2 He married Vella Grace Polk, daughter of Herschel Dale Polk and Grace Hayes, on 22 May 1926 at Labette County, Kansas.³ Conflicting evidence states that he died before 1947. He apparently simply stopped communicating wtih his relatives in Germany, and they assumed he had died..⁴ Edward Carl Gesang died on 3 November 1974 at Edna, Labette County, Kansas, at age 87.⁵

He also had lodging in their household.¹⁰ On 1 January 1920 Edward Carl Gesang lived at Cherokee Township, Montgomery County, Kansas.¹⁰ On 1 May 1930 Edward Carl Gesang and Vella Grace Gesang lived at Canada Township, Labette County, Kansas.¹¹ On 1 April 1935 Edward Carl Gesang and Vella Grace Gesang lived at Labette County, Kansas.¹² On 1 April 1940 Edward Carl Gesang and Vella Grace Gesang lived at Liberty Township, Stone County, Arkansas.¹² On 27 April 1942 Edward Carl Gesang and Vella Grace Gesang lived at Mountain View, Stone County, Arkansas.¹³ They resided at Liberty Township, Stone County, Arkansas, on 5 April 1950. Their farm was apparently located on Sugar Hill Road northwest from its intersection with Highway no. 9, 4-3/4 miles, on the left side of the road.¹⁴

According to an enemy alien registration affidavit , they was listed as a relative of Edward Carl Gesang on 9 February 1918 at Chief of Police's Office, Coffeeville, Kansas.² In 1927 Christian Gesang lived at Haus Nr. 67, Förtha, Wartburgkreis, Thuringia, Germany; Railroad worker.³ He had 8 children. (One was killed in World War II.)

     Fritz was born in 1906. He married Ella (- -) in 1926.
     Fritz Gesang was drafted very late in the war and then was captured by a British force very early in his deployment and detained in a Prisoner of War camp.² On 7 September 1947 Fritz Gesang lived at Prisoner No. B235952, PW Hospital 232, Wardwick Park, Blockley Clos., England.³ He was a metal worker (Schlosser.)

     Ella was born on 7 April 1908. She married Fritz Gesang in 1926.
     As of 1926, her married name was Gesang.²

     He lived at 706 7th Avenue South, Moorhead, Clay County, Minnesota, on 1 April 1940 with Carl Berthold Ylvisaker and Marie Helmina Ylvisaker.¹ John Carl Ylvisaker lived at 1010 10th Street South, Moorhead, Clay County, Minnesota, on 1 April 1950 with Marie Helmina Ylvisaker.² John Carl Ylvisaker received a Bachelor's degree in music and history in 1959 from Concordia College Moorhead, Clay County, Minnesota.³ He resided at Waverly, Bremer County, Iowa, circa 1989.
