He owned a 3/4-acre wooded lot at Cornwall Bridge, CT, where he studied conifer pests and old field ecological succession. Dr Eugene Albert Cornelius was interested in early local history of New England. He collected antiques and some fine art. Dr Eugene Albert Cornelius researched the family histories of his German and Austrian ancestors.
